well, feels like a lot has been going on. while i’ve got a quiet moment, thought i’d fill you in...
~The Terri Clark Tour~
the last two years have been pretty hectic. and, truth be told, i was feeling a little worn down...artistically, and overall. so, wasn’t it great when, after the new year, other than a couple things here and there, i had some serious time off? well, you’d think. you’d also think that if you could stop working right now, and have your days free to do with whatever you’d like, that it would be awesome.
turns out, at least for me, it’s a little mind-numbingly boring.
i NEED to work. i love being busy. not in a workaholic kind of way, so much as just full of activity kind of days.
so, you can imagine how excited i was to head out for two weeks, opening for Terri Clark’s, “Alone and Unplugged” tour.
now, if you know Terri’s music, you know she’s a super talented, super successful....COUNTRY artist. i had a couple people say, “i don’t get it. you’re not country. why are you opening for a country artist?” i wish those people could be at the shows to see how great it actually works!
i opened for her a little bit last year, and it went so well, that i got to do more dates this year. the thing is, at least the way i see it, i’m a singer-songwriter who writes on my primary instrument. when you go in the studio and produce your music, it becomes whatever genre you want it to sound like. but when it’s stripped down to the writer and their instrument, we’re all just singer-songwriters.
it was a blast. i got to play for an audience i would typically not reach. they seemed to love it. i loved it. Terri was happy. i came home exhausted and with the happy feeling of girl who worked her ass off:)
i’ll be re-joining her next week for the last leg of the tour, and i can’t wait!
~Kickstarter~
in the meantime, while i was preparing for the tour, we launched a campaign, at the beginning of April, to raise money to fund my next project, “More Than Santa”, my first full-length holiday cd.
we decided to go the Kickstarter route. if you don’t know Kickstarter, you can check it out at kickstarter.com. basically, it’s a website that helps artists get funding for their projects by setting a goal amount to be raised in a certain time frame. anyone who contributes, gets certain special gifts, that are listed on that artist’s kickstater page. once the goal has been raised.
you can always surpass the goal, and keep raising money, BUT if you don’t hit your goal, then no one gets charged anything, and the artist gets nothing. so...it’s awesome and a little stressful!
we set the goal at the minimum to get the cd made. $13,000. by the time i returned from being on the road, within less than one month, we hit the goal! now, to be clear, we’re STILL raising money. the more we raise, the more i can do with this recording. (fyi-none of the money goes to me. only the project. so, it all goes right back into the music) If you want to check out my page, go to kickstarter.com and search for Keri Noble.
~KFAN/Girl Around Town (Hangin w/the Boys)~
last, but not least, i’ve taken on a new challenge. I’m the new recurring guest on KFAN’s (sports radio-am1130 (kfan.com)) Power Trip morning show, every Monday morning in the 8 o’clock hour.
What the???? And you thought me opening for a country artist was out of the ordinary!!!
well, i’m gonna be the “girl around town”, talking about what there is to do in mpls/st paul/surrounding areas, and what i’ve been up to. so, movies, concerts, shows, restaurants, etc., i’ll be talking about it! it’s a ton of fun. i was on the show twice before, to promote my music, and had such a great time, that we thought it could be a cool and different thing to do.
(if you live in Minnesota, and have ideas for what you’d like to hear me do, see, experience, email me through the website or via facebook)
if you can’t tell, i kinda like to mix it up!
well, as always, music is my passion, and you will soon be hearing about my time in the studio as we capture christmas in the summer!
in the meantime, i’m gonna go finish this Terri Clark tour, write the last song or two for the new CD, and add more tour dates to the schedule. i’ll be adding fun videos to the website, too, so come back often, and don’t forget to check me out on facebook, too!
